Programming Contest

Student teams share a single computer and compete against other teams to solve interesting and challenging programming problems. Teams are encouraged to bring textbooks and other non-electronic materials as resources. Conference and contest registration is required, and the number of accepted teams may be limited, so be sure to register promptly. One or more cash awards will be presented to the top teams at the Saturday lunch banquet.

Rules

Complete programming contest rules are available in MICS2010ProgrammingContestRules.pdf.

Registration

Teams of three students wishing to participate in the Programming Contest must register for the contest. To register, send an email message to wagnerpj@uwec.edu with a subject line of "MICS 2010 Programming Contest", with a message body containing the following:

  • the names of each of the three students (each must also be registered for the MICS conference)
  • the name of your school
  • specification of one student team member as the team captain, plus that student's email address
  • the desired name of your team, if any
  • the name of your faculty coach (may coach multiple teams from same school)

Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to the following restrictions. The first two teams from each institution will immediately be accepted if there is space (current limit: 30 teams). Third and additional and fourth teams from an institution will be placed on a waiting list, and will be accepted if there is space remaining after the early registration deadline of March 19, 2010. Teams will be notified by email of their acceptance or other status.
